Build a better World

Mangrove trees are coming to Minecraft, but their impact on both the Overworld and the real world is much bigger than meets the eye. Mangroves pull more carbon dioxide (CO2) than almost any other tree in the world. We’ve lost almost half of the mangrove forests that once covered the Earth, but together we can build a better world by learning and taking action.

The Lead Researcher of The Mangrove Restoration Project needs you for a very important mission. Climate change has damaged a once thriving mangrove forest—but all is not lost. Using the base’s cutting edge-technology and research updates, you can plant new trees to lower the CO2 levels and save the ecosystem!

Partnership with The Nature Conservancy

Together with The Nature Conservancy, we want to build a better world by spreading awareness and raising money to protect and restore mangrove forests. Mojang Studios will be donating $200,000 to this cause—and if you want to get involved, tune into the individual charity streams hosted by Minecraft creators StacyPlays, Grian, Wyld, and AuthenticGames on July 7!

The Wild Update

Set your sights for adventure, wander aimlessly, or seek out something new as you craft your own path in The Wild Update!

Celebrate Nature in the Mangrove Swamp

Towering trees, wide roots, small saplings, and muddy terrain make up the new mangrove swamps.

Mangrove Tree Blocks

Mangrove trees introduce a brand-new type of wood block to build with. The logs can be crafted into planks, stairs, buttons, slabs, fences, doors, signs, and pressure plates.

The Frogs

The mangrove swamps will not only bring their own, unique flora to the Overworld—new fauna is coming as well! Three types of frogs, along with tadpoles and frogspawn, are ready to be discovered amongst the propagules and mangrove roots!

Between June 13, 2022 and December 31, 2022, Mojang Studios will contribute $200,000 to The Nature Conservancy. Any purchases made in the Minecraft Marketplace will not result in a contribution to TNC. The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the land and waters on which all life depends. More information about TNC is available by mail at 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Virginia 22203, by phone at (800) 628-6860 or at www.nature.org.
